I have just today put in two new small raised beds and filled them with very well rotted organic horse manure, nothing else. The beds are six inches deep and I left the grass under the manure as I’m sure this will just rot down. I plan to grow some beans, either French or runner, in one of the beds and plant some small lettuce seedlings I have growing at the moment in the other. The lettuce I will follow up with some kale plants I’ll purchase in June.
Is my plan ok or would you advise I do anything differently?

It is good! You can plant leeks between growing lettuce too, they take a while to settle then race away after the lettuce finish.
