Hi Charles, my OW onions sown from seed are beginning to bulb up and look as though they may provide a nice harvest. However, an odd one has started to throw up a flower stem. Are these flowering plants best removed, even though they have yet to bulb up? May they trigger the others to start flowering too?

For those that may be interested – rabbits eat onion leaves….certainly in North Yorkshire!

This is quite normal to have a few going to flower, and they don’t infect the others, it’s genetic variation. I would pull and eat them asap before they go stemmy.
Sorry tp hear about your rabbits.

Thanks, I shall do so today as, following a few days of much needed rain, we have a day of sun 🙂
