Trciky once the damage is happening and weevils are installed near to plants. If one knew in advance, a mesh cover would help, placed over the peas at planting time.

The weevils are abundant this spring and my broad beans were badly nibbled a month ago, before recovering well. Your peas will probably recover, once they have settled in from the stress of being planted out, as any move causes some weakness to plants and pests love weak plants. Then as your peas develop new roots, they should grow away healthily. Giving a little water will help in this dry weather.
