Was interested that you are trialling the Roto bin, Charles. We were provided with a green plastic bin by the council when the allotments came available. I was quite sniffy about them at first and proud of my big pallet bin.
Now I feel quite differently. The big bin is covered and being left to mature and I am filling this small bin and you can feel the heat from it when the lid comes off. It reduces rapidly to give room for more. Just wish it didn’t have the silly hatch at the bottom, which needs to be anchored closed, as lifting the bin off is by far the easiest way to access.
Would you turn it by lifting off and forking back in top to bottom, or is that not necessary?

    Nice to hear this.
Turning is not necessary if you leave it long enough… say 8-12 months.
Or you can buy for about £6 a metal aerating tool, see Primrose. For occasional use.
