Just heard that a study has been carried out and, rather like people get addicted to smoking, bees get addicted to the nicotine-like neonicotinoid pesticides. So much so that they actually prefer to visit flowers that have been sprayed with neonics than unsprayed flowers! Expect they pass this on to the next generation too. My allotment is currently surrounded on two sides by a rape field. I know how often the sprayer visits. Ain’t life grand!
