    Hi Charles,

I have sowed a batch of leef beet and chard , and am thinking of doing some more , and then spinach for overwintering , but because of this heat and dry, would it be wise to hold off and sow in a couple of weeks? Would heat/water stress lead to possible bolting?

Hello Dan,  you have a point but they are different plants. True spinach might indeed be inclined to flower when started in heat like this so early August will be good for sowing it this year.

But leaf beet and chard are more robust and should be fine from sowing now until early August, for autumn picking and hopefully winter too.
