Hi I want to provide support for my tomatoes without using canes. However the crop bars run in the opposite direction to my beds. Should I run a cane at right angles through the crop bars and then secure string to that?
Anyone else got an ide of how to do this (first time growing in polytunnel and nervous of using canes for staking as Im sure I will push one through the polytunnel skin 😮

Wires over cross bars from end to end, tied to tops of door frames.
Canes should work, are worth tying to the bars.

thanks Charles – does this work for growing in beds at the edge of the tunnel? or is it better to grow shorter corps there?

Yes shorter crops along the edge – although if your tunnel’s hoops are 3 foot vertical up from the ground, a shorter tom like Brandywine is possible (at least, the Yellow one I grow is 3-4 feet).
