    Hi Charles

My Autumn Giant caulis headed up in early August and had gone to seed well before the end of the month. We picked off a good crop of Calabrese Green Magic heads yesterday but had hoped to enjoy them later in September. Caulis sown on 27/4 and Calabrese on 8/6

Is it just the nature of the season, a very warm and dry August? Would later sowing help or do later sowings catch up and head up at the same time? Are there other varieties that you could recommend to give a later/Autumn crop?

Looking forward to Hauser and Wirth, Homeacres and Steph’s cakes on our Sunday day out from Exmouth.

Exmouth is deep south and 8th June is too early for autumn calabrese, even here I sow around 20th, and yes its forward compared to last year. Try last week of June next year. Any variety should work.
With cauls’s its more about variety choice and I am not expert there.
See you Sunday! best park in the village main road and walk up the lane.
