My neighbour gave me some sacks of ‘older’ compost. It had several types of wiggly things in it. Some had many legs – centipedes? Some worms, and even a slug… :(
The compost was wet and there were a few holes in the sacks. Presumably it would be better to use this on the beds rather than for sowing..? K

Life in your sack of compost is not a problem (except slug) but wetness may be, causing lack of air. However it may still have plenty of goodness. I would keep it for filling larger pots of tomatoes, courgettes etc and use newer compost for seedlings.
