Thanks Again Ray, I have just put down (Apr) all the plastic tarps that I have on top of the grass which contains lots of weeds and they are held in place with large rocks and pieces of wood to keep them in place for when the wind blows. I will update as soon as there is any progress with the test. Jean

Charles, 11 years is quite a long time for them to pay themselves off, after that will you be completely off the grid?
So it is best to get a year old manure over a well rotted one?
That is interesting, never thought of that. Thanks.
Thanks Charles, you are very helpful.
I just read that asparagus roots have a tendency to rise to the surface during their lifetime so maybe that is why they are planted so deep to begin with and not the winter cold as I first suspected.
Not aware of roots freezing here but thought that was why they recommend planting them so deep, how much straw would you recommend for winter protection.
Charles, when I mentioned digging down a foot to plant the asparagus roots, I should have mentioned that I live in Nova Scotia, Canada and wonder if the method that you mention for planting asparagus would still apply?
Yes I have a mower so I will cut the grass down really short and then apply the cardboard. Thanks Charles.
What good news, I will definitely do it that way. Thank You.
