But for example in your trials March 2015 with Cress and Spinach your trial suggests poor germination is due to compost? Initial germination in Viridor is certainly much better.
Thank you for replies. As seeds require very little nutrient, what would be the reason for the poor germination of seed in some compost in trials undertaken by Charles?
Many thanks. Aesthetically I think the boards make for a neat looking veg area in the garden but I guess your reason for no sides is to avoid a good home for slugs down the sides?
Thank you for that Charles.
Thanks Charles. Variety is Purple Plum and spacing is ok. Leaves are 12″+. I have read that too much Nitrogen can cause the problem but dont know how to avoid that?
Many thanks Charles. I have been trying to remove them but meanwhile they keep returning and the leaves are now so badly curled that they may not continue to grow. I have now sprayed with a water/vegetable oil mix and that seems to have cleared them.
I am growing them in the greenhouse – ring culture on grow bags. They are about 6″ high now.
Sweet Genovese. I am using a DIY liquid feed and maintaining PH between 6 and 7. Happy to email more details if you are interested.
Many thanks Charles. I am achieving great results with Basil grown Hydroponically indoors, with leaves up to 5″ long!
