Charles the symtoms are very similar to the leek moth. Allium leaf miner is a fly which lays its eggs on allium species, the eggs hatch into maggots which turn into chrysalis which pupate in the stem, roots and soil, it should not be confused with the leek moth whoes larva has a separate head section and les.

Charles all the gardening books tell us never to lime and add manure at the same time as this can cause a chemical reaction and it is best to leave 3 months between liming and manuring, whats your thoughts on this ?

Charles the reason i ask is because we have clubroot on our allotment site and the only way we can get a crop of brassicas is to put a handfull of lime in the planting hole and one around the plant when we plant out, would this not be practical in a no dig system ?
