o.k. I just thought it might be worth risking a few cheeky plantings to take advantage of our new mediterranean-esque climate. I did lose some Courgette and Sweetcorn plantings in a frost last may but fortune favours the brave or was it the reckless fool?
I’m afraid the only way to remedy this situation is for you, Charles, to develop an earlier variety and name it Sprint. This may help to avoid future embarrassment.
I think maybe you, like the rest of the population of this planet, don’t completely understand what energy actually is.
I usually cut off a handful of the older leaves from around the bottom of the Tomato plants(as ironically tomato leaves are toxic to aphids), chop them up finely, sometimes adding a clove of garlic also finely chopped, I then tie it all up in a small piece of muslin and put it in a bucket with about a litre of water and leave it overnight. It is then ready to spray. As Charles has pointed out predatory insects will generally keep the numbers down and I mainly use this spray for younger seedlings or larger gatherings.
ok thank you. I just can’t believe how many of them there. Must be extremely favourable conditions for them, I’m going to try and put some kind of physical barrier around the more vulnerable plants until they are slightly more established.
The little critters are nibbling at my peppers in the polytunnel I have planted a row of marigolds along the path and they are all over them aswell. is there anything I can or should do ? I have always liked woodlice but my Norfolk Naga’s do not.
