I was just about to ask the same question about unheated polytunnels. Although I have an additional problem in that I have quite a few leggy tomato plants that really need the extra light… Is it work the risk planting them in the poytunnel now? or should I throw them away (I’ve got some new seedlings just coming up. Yes, I planted too early… it’s my first year growing tomatoes I didn’t realise how fast they could grow!

Haha, Newbie alert! No totally didn’t think to do that! They still look good though three days later, first true leaves growing nicely.

I took some plants out of modules this weekend, there was a certain amount of “crunching” going on but then I used a small teaspoon to help ease the plants out – Not sure if this is recommended – I only had a few to do and I was careful…

    Thank you!
I think I’ve got about 175 m2 or just over, for two people. Not liking cauliflower sounds like it should help. I am prepared to put in a lot of time and effort, the weather is good in Sussex and there will be a proper poly tunnel next year, this year there is a 1.2 x 2 meter one, looked disappointingly small when I got it home! I’m going to concentrate on the expensive veg and herbs that we buy to save the most money.
