I have a similar problem in my bed of sweet corn, normally I would use boiling water but dont fancy running across to the allotment with a kettle full as Im bound to encounter bouncy dogs or low flying footballs.
So I too would be very interested to hear of friendly alternatives.
Thanks Charles. Im still not sure it is mosaic as a new leaf has grown without it, so Im wondering if it could be that it perhaps got scorched or similar? The plant is growing well. The leaf is mottled but not blistered and the main veins on the leaf are still a nice green. The pictures I have been able to find on line are more light ar=nd dark green random patches, where as this was a dry brown and in a fairly disticnt pattern.
My poor garlic chives look as if they have a fungus growing on them they have turned blue and furry! Think it is probably time to give up on them germinating.
How long should french beens take they have been in a grow house 2 weeks and no sign. Should I give up on them too or hang in there for a bit longer?
The pellets were what was to hand in my hour of need, having lived at the back of the cupboard for some years I was surprised that they appear to be working. Thanks for the warning and I will look in to the wool ones but only intend putting them around new sowings/ plantings while it is so wet.
I just invested in 2 honeyberry plants and was a little surprised that they have flowered already this year. Have yours got that far? I have been told that the birds adore them so I will be keeping an eye to make sure I get the netting on first.
Many thanks Charles – Cant wait to get started!
