Charles I could not get my usual compost , the man said he had got a different one and had
some good reports on it . It was cheaper than my usual one and was 75 litres instead of 50 .
It is “MOTHER EARTH” .Have you had any reports on this product. So far so good ,but I
would like your opinion.Slasher
I have used toilet roll holders for years , and more so now I am a no dig fan ,I ask my friends and
neighbours to collect them. I also collect kitchen towel holders cut them into three and use them
for my beetroot .Thanks Charles, as it is my first time under polythene I will try rocket
for my first earlies. Is their one potatoe that grows better under polythene ,or are they all the same.
I grow Picaso.slasher
Just had my first full season of no dig, and a very good one indeed.Hi Slasher here , Just an update on our progress with our snap traps , five nil to the lads in three days I think we are winning the battle.
I use Scaffolding net .I get it from scaffolding direct of the net .It works for all purposes .
SLASHERThat’s the only reason that I can think of .The soil is not being disturbed so the spores lie dormant.
Onions are looking good , leaves have really took off and ready for the final trim down to 10ins.
I will tell you how they finish up at the end of the season.
Just cleared my broad beans and they are in the freezer, I spread 2ins of compost and started
planting my leeks . I lifted a collie and a cabbage still no sign of club root . I am really pleased I
started NO DIG so is my back thanks CHARLES.Slasher. A few had leaves like pigs tails ,sow rather than try picking them out I cut them all back. I had seen this video on ytube about onions ,he had a problem with the wind .He had seen this video about cutting the leaves down to keep them looking tidy. He could weed better to ,he said his onions benefitted at the end of the season which is all that matters.
Slasher; First time I have put Carrot & Parsnip seed in no dig, both are doing well .
I will have to thin the carrots out next week. This is my first season of no dig and I am really
enjoying it. Every thing I have planted is looking great. I had a problem with my onions but
after watching a video I cut the leaves down to 8 inches from the muck, they are looking
great after a week ,you can cut them again in a couple of weeks to 10 inches and them leave
them .It is supposed to fatten the bulbs .Watch this space for the results.HI I have an Asparagus bed .Every year when it grows to about 42 ins I trim it
like a private hedge . Along the top and the sides. I have done this for a number of years.
Slasher.Rhys i had the same problem, now I use water or gas service pipe 25mil ,cut it to length then push one end into the soil bend it over push the other end into the soil . I send for my netting off
Scaffolding Direct off the inter net . I send for some tent pegs of ebay to hold the netting done.
Hope this helps, it is also good over carrots. slasher -
