Thanks Gwynleg!
I find they don’t enjoy being multisown in the way that turnip or beetroot do. If you search the forum, there’s this post from 2014 where Charles suggests limiting them to two per clump https://forum.charlesdowding.co.uk/forums/topic/multisowing-kohl-rabi/
Thanks, that’s good to know.
It is a brassica. Some people lump roots together regardless of family but radishes are member of the Brassicaceae family and definitelly not Fabaceae (legumes).

Look for Indian tomato varieties, flavoursome but sour and not too sweet. ‘Surender’s Indian Curry’ is one name worth looking for. For lettuces, there’s a old variety called ‘Black-seeded Simpson’ that’s widely available and has a good flavour. ‘Reine de Glaces’, ‘Jabeque’ and ‘Maravilla de Verano’ (or ‘Maravilla de Verano Canasta’) all work for me too, but much depends on your soil and your personal tastes. ‘Kelvedon Wonder’ is a trustworthy standby for a pea to sow this early in the year, though you might want to sow indoors depending on the weather where you are. In March I’ll probably do ‘Havel’ too, but climbing peas make better use of my limited space.
They look lovely and I wish you good luck getting hold of some! I wish they sold something like that here. Finding a strong reuseable tray more than 5.5cm deep and with 30 to 80 modules in a decent size is near impossible here. Most of what they sell to home gardeners is only 24 cells, or too shallow, or too flimsy.
Thank you Cleansweep. I think it might have been on your advice last year that I spread my contaminated compost in a scruffy corner to break down. This lady doesn’t have any grass going spare so I don’t think it’s an option for her. Wondering if getting in touch with a compost company near her would be a good idea?
That seems logical, I’ll have a go. Really wasn’t keen on the idea of grit. Wow, 4-5 years? I find only certain tulips will do that for me, others disappear very quickly. Busy worms, I love your turn of phrase.
Oh poo. I did leave specific plants, but the beans have been this size for the last 16 or 17 weeks. Absolute whoppers too. Have I discovered some sort of freaky everlasting bean? Will get picking tomorrow. Thanks for answering!
Oh good, that’s a relief!
Thank you for the information, Tristan. It’s good to know it is possible to neutralise it safely at home. I do have a patch of rough ground that used to be a bonfire that I might try this out. Must say, I’m constantly astonished by the ability of Nature to repair our cock-ups and regenerate, given enough time.
I thought I posted a reply but it obviously hasn’t gone through. It’s a shame there isn’t a retail source, I think someone’s missing a trick, but the alternatives are hopeful. Thank you very much for replying.
Thank you for going above and beyond, Cleansweep, the extra advice is much appreciated.
Thanks Neilfrazerm! I’m growing a cardboard mountain already and I think I’ll add more just to be sure I’ve got enough. Do you think it will cause a problem temporarily putting a Gro-bed on top of the no dig bit or is the weight not an issue?
