Lovely to hear from you Bluebell I hope you are well.
Yes it really is amazing, I’ve already linked up with my neighbours to help grow the plants. I have also been given the opportunity to use a greenhouse that my neighbour can’t use anymore, which is so wonderful all the tomatoes are thriving and we will be able to share the produce. He enjoys the company and I am learning lots of tips.
We have to wait four months to hear from The Co op Community Fund, so I am emailing companies to see if they do charity work by donating compost and timber…feel a bit like Pamela Anderson. There will be an article about it in The Dunstable Gazette on Wednesday

Hello Charles.
My blueberry is in a crate and I used shop bought ericaceous soil. I just wanted to give it a boost. So would composted horse manure be the correct pH? Great news Charles I’ve been given permission from Central Beds Highways to set up the beginnings of Incredible Edible Dunstable 100 metres from my front door. You probably wont remember the site by our shops when you visited last year. I need to know if it’s ok to leave the roots of Pyracanthus and Rose of Sharon shrubs in the soil and then just install the raised beds on the top of them.
Kind regards
Sahira
Hi All
Charles has kindly posted on his home about this. The link for you to sign the petition is this one.
Brigit Strawbridge Facebook Campaigner and the leaders of The Green Party for England Wales and Scotland are in London today handing over the petition. This is the first time that a political party has teamed up with a social media group.
Charles has 4000 members on this forum so we could make all the difference but we only have a few days left before it goes to the EU for the vote on Monday 25th February 2013. It only takes a few minutes to sign the petition on Facebook and you can invite up to 50 friends. If you are not on Facebook then email your MP using the link Charles posted there is a template for your email, and you can put in your postcode and find out who to send it to.
Thank you so much for reading this please can you pass the link to your family and friends to sign the petition and help us save our bees.
Kind regards

http://www.buglife.org.uk/I’m definately going to make me one as it extends the season and I have a free supply of fresh horse manure, and hardly anywhere to start seeds off indoors. So this hot bed idea ticks so many boxes. Thank you Charles for posting it on your forum.

Hi Charles and Bluebell Thanks for the comments. Yes I agree Dobies are very naughty but it is a lesson learnt about how important it is to get the timing right. I’ll harden off the remainder of my plants in the grow house and wait for the fellow allotment holders to clear their plots of weeds. Meanwhile I’ll get some used coffee grounds from our local coffee shop and find a good recipe for slug soup. LOL

Hi Ashleigh
I have a bed of strawberries which has quite alot of bindweed that I manage to keep on top of by defoliating and removing as much of the roots as possible when I can. However to stop the bindweed passing into the neighbouring beds I dug a trench and it works really well. At the bottom of the trench I’ve managed to acquire strips of artificial grass found in a skip at a school that was having their play area astro turfed. It has stopped all weed growth in the trench and never needs cutting. I am however removing the artifical grass and putting it into storage now so that it will not provide a habitat for slugs and snails to over winter.

Hi Kate
I have used this calander for a year now and at first it was quite difficult to understand all the different symbols but you do get used to them. It has given me alot more confidence planting on the correct lunar date. Have a look at ‘Moon Sowing’ Charles has reviewed the diary and I still have some free 2012 diaries available.

It was wonderful that you came all that way. Lots of people have said how much they enjoyed the talk.
SahiraHi Charles
I have some Colron refined Teak Oil says it’s a superior blend of natural oil and water repellent. But it has a big black cross on the tin saying it’s Harmful also very high VOC more than 50% would it be ok just to use it on the outside?

Hi DeborahS
My friend had badgers digging up her lawn for worms and she decided to put food out for them. I’ll find out what she used.
Thank you for your advice
Hi B
You would love it, great to kneel on and if compost falls of the beds just pick the artifical grass up and shake it off like a rug. Schools are common sites for artifical grass to be installed.Happy hunting
