Just an update on the red Falstaff. It’s blossomed very well and now has fruit developing nicely.

Thanks charles. Would that be with as much soil as possible around roots or as bare root. Would leaf mold be ok for mulch

Several layers of thick cardboard just to temporarily stop soils mixing. Then if I yearly top up with ericaceous hopefully that will work

I think I’m going to dig out 30 cm and put in a plastic weed suppressant then replace with ericaceous compost and mix with rotted leaf mould and pine needles then each yr top up and see how that works

No bedding just picking it up from field. Was going to add it to my compost bins. Just wondered if I could use it as a mulch as long as it doesn’t touch plants.

I let mine dry right out then crunch it up and spread it round my veg and use it as a mulch and slug deterrent

On our allotment there are 11 plots and I am the only 1 who practice’s the no dig method and in the last few weeks all the other plot holder s (5) have been rotavating they have so many weeds on their plots where as I have basicallynone. My plot is very low maintenance just needing a top up of Manure/compost /leaf mould once a year I love this way of veg growing and I’m thankful for finding charles’ way of doing it. My time is spent on sowing into modules and tray then posting on then planting outin to my raised beds what could be easier. I know my neighbour wished hed done his plot like mine . its hard to get the project going from scratch but its well worth the effort.

I’ve grown sturon sets for the last 2 years with great success and last year I also tried turbo which were huge and have stored very well so I can recommend those to try. Seed this year for a change.
